Extra Curricular Activities

Learn about some of our extra and fun activities that KRK offers!

  • Health and Fitness -  Move & Grow with 2.0  -  Recent studies show that our society, through the comforts of technology and fast food, enables childhood obesity, which has reached epidemic proportions. Kids 'R' Kids knows how important physical activity is to any child's development, and that's why our centers include the Kids 'R' Kids Health and Fitness Challenge. Our unique Health and Fitness Program provides all the tools for kids of all ages to learn and enjoy how to be healthy. Throughout this curriculum we emphasize healthy bodies, the food pyramid, and physical fitness. We stress the importance of fair play, team cooperation, and physical well-being. (school sponsored)

  • Foreign Language - Hola 2.0 with Mrs. Adriana - There's no better time to learn another language than during the early childhood years. In fact, a child's brain is designed to learn multiple languages. We offer a Spanish class that will take place twice a week for 30min. This will be a fun and exciting way for your child to learn a second language. (school sponsored)

  • Dance - TLC with Ms. Danielle - Dancing helps even the youngest child express herself with music and movement. We offer a dance class provided by TLC (Teaching Little Children) that comes to the center once a week for a fun and positive first step in the art of movement and dance. This program is designed to promote balance, coordination, and confidence as well as physical development for girls and boys ages 3 and up. (parent sponsored)

  • Music - Notes 2 U with Ms. Megan
  • Ms. Megan is a certified music teacher

What does this mean for my child?

Most 2-year-olds have already begun to respond to music with their bodies (eg: clapping, rocking, bouncing, swaying, and sometimes singing). In music class, they will be singing short, simple songs, following directions given in songs, and even exploring some instruments. By incorporating movement and instruments into music, they will also be practicing motor skills. All of this establishes a solid foundation for more advanced musical learning and enjoyment in years to come.

**Additional benefits of classroom music for all of the above age groups include teamwork, cooperation, confidence, and creativity.

In addition to the skills of their younger counterparts, 3-year-olds can also recognize and sing familiar songs, make up their own songs, and perform slightly more advanced movements to music (eg: walking, running, skipping, jumping).  During music class, these children will enjoy dramatizing songs (through hand motions, choreography, etc.), explore sounds, rhythm, and movement relating to music, and express themselves creatively through music (singing, playing instruments, and moving).

4-year-olds gain a better grasp of foundational musical concepts such as tempo (fast/slow), volume (loud/soft), and pitch (high/low). They will be exploring these basic concepts of music at length and experience the wide range of expression that can be shown through music. As their voices mature, they will perform gradually more complex songs, and will even be encouraged to create their own versions of songs by altering and improvising lyrics. These classes will heavily involve “active” listening (moving, singing, hand motions, and accompanying songs with instruments) in order to make more solid musical connections. (school sponsored)
