Summer Camp

Since the beginning of time, people throughout the world have searched for treasure. As we decipher clues, read maps, and work together through cooperation and respect, discovering treasure is the ultimate goal. Join us as we travel through various extreme environments of our universe. We will unearth some of the greatest wonders on our voyage! Experiencing the lives of people in different cultures, habitats, and atmospheres will guide us to discover guide us to discover the true strength of character within ourselves. With each stop on our journey, we will introduce new ideas and concepts into our individual worlds. Building on our personal character traits, we will begin to understand how to survive more responsibly and respectfully with others and the universe in which we live. Our adventures will take us to the far ends of the universe: The Arctic Circle, the rainforests, hidden caves, the deep oceans, and even to outer space. Get ready for the adventure for a lifetime! Your treasure waits!

This year`s Marietta summer camp, Camp Amazing Kids, includes opportunities for campers to involve their communities, families, and friends in what they are experiencing and learning. Campers will participate in seven interest camp. Rotating every hour to a new room with new areas of interest to spark thier love of camp. The seven interst camps include: Drama Camp, Cooking and Science Camp, Sprots Camp, Skill builders Camp, Technology Camp, Art Camp and Camp Amazing Kids. In addition to the interest camp your child will experience 2-3 field trips a week relating back to the theme or topic of the weeks adventure.

Points of interest for each interest camp:

Drama Camp: Act out short skits and musical numbers, week of Kids R Kids Idol, "So You THink You Can Dance", Kids R Kids Got Talent, puppet making and shows, hair and make up tips for the stage, movie making and much more.

Cooking and Science Camp: Come hungry for they will be making everything from grilled cheese sandwiches, smoothies, cupcakes, s`mores, and much, much more. In science they will explore crystals, rockets, stars, space, volcanes just to name a few.

Sports Camp: Each week they will focus of a different sport and different skill building technique. Ending the week with little scrimmages. Tennis, flag football, baseball, vollyball, soccer and water games are in the works. When the weather is extremely to hot or the polution is off the chart we have an indoor space available to the campers to continue to work on the skill needed for the week.

Skill Builder Camp: This camp will keep your child fresh on the skills they just gained from a year in school. We will encourgae a summer reading log, writing assignments, math challanges, and other skill building activiites to retain the necessary knowledge needed for next school year. They will also be able log onto educational websites to keep them challenged and motivated. At the end of the summer any camper that completed the summer reading log will be invied to attend a special party to acknowedge thier accomplishments.

Technology Camp: Includes Playstations, WII, computers hooked to the internet (child friendly browsers) Smart Boards, digital cameras, digital microscopes and much more. The campers will be encouraged to take digital cameras everywhere with them this summer and will then be allowed to create slide show and digital scrapbooks.

Art Camp: If your camper loves to be creative, get dirty and enjoyes experience new mediums this is the place for them. They will learn to use a pottery wheel, weave, paint with all types of brushes and other tools, use pastels and chalks. They will also learn that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and art is all around you.

Camp Amazing Kids: This is our summer theme and involves all kinds of challenges and adventures. From Taking the Food Challenge to Wonderous Adventures and Explores you camper will be exposed to many wonderous topics this summer.
